Though bundled with Red Hat Business Automation, Red Hat Business Optimization can stand alone. RHBO is a constraint solver. What does that mean? I'm not sure. I'm kidding. It means that, given a set of data definitions (constraints), the open-source planning engine can solve a business problem.
Examples explain it best. Given a certain number of locations and a certain amount of time, what route should a salesperson travel to optimize sales? Another example: given a certain number of skilled employees and a certain number of shifts that need filling, how can I schedule my staff roster most efficiently?
I served as lead designer on a team of five and helped Business Optimization gain traction within the Red Hat portfolio.
